Our Charley Bromac (3f Shadow Play-Classic Blue Jeans), named after one of Bob McArdle's "kiwi grandkids", became the 10th winner for her Camluck dam at Wangaratta on Thursday, January 25.
The Isabel Walsh-trained filly was a winner at just her fourth start, trailing from the ace and delivering as a $2.30 favourite in the Aqua Peel Wangaratta 3YO Pace.
Our Charley Bromac, who rated 2:02.8 for the 1800m in the hands of Mark Pitt, brought up the 77th combined win for the progeny of Classic Blue Jeans.
Raced by Bromac Lodge with Dianne Reilly, Our Charley Bromac's dam is a half-sister to Cha Cha Bromac, the unraced dam of Carlos Bromac, a Bettor's Delight colt (Lot 313) in the NZ Premier Yearling Sale in Christchurch on February 13.
Cha Cha Bromac, by Art Major, is one of few unraced foals from Classic Blue Jeans, another being Crown Defender, the Life Sign dam of fast Australian winners Cruz Bromac (p3, 1:51.6), Carter Bromac (p3, 1:52.4), Churchill Bromac (1:57.3) and Coltrane Bromac, and last week's Marlborough grass winner, Caviar Bromac.
Other daughters of Classic Blue Jean to have bred on are Crown Counsel (p3, TT, 1:58.1), a one-win daughter of Western Hanover who has left big international winner (Our) Cullens Crown (1:52, US) and big Australian winner, Attorney Stride (p2, 1:57.5); and Classic Art (p3, TT, 1:55.1), who only had two starts and has left good WA winner Art Connoissuer (1:58.5, 14 wins).
Classic Blue Jeans, an unraced half-sister to Falcons Blue Jean (1:51.8, US), has continued her American bloodlines to good effect at stud.
Her first foal was Attorney General (1:48.4), formerly the fastest NZ-bred pacer, who numbered a Franklin Cup among his nine NZ wins before adding another 11 wins in the USA, retiring with earnings of $434,952.
Classic Blue Jean’s other winners are: Crown Bromac (1:54.1), Cullen Bromac (1:55.1), Captain Bromac (1:57.8), Chiquita Bromac (1:58.7), Chay Bromac (1:59.2), Crown Counsel (TT, 1:58.1), Mink Stride (2:00.9) and Cindy Bromac (1:57.6).
