Published by Jeff Scott in News · 22 September 2019

Former promising NZ filly Arma Indie, from Arma Courage, a Courage Under Fire half-sister to Amaretto Bromac, is striking a purple patch of form in West Australia.

She was untroubled to win the ,000 Garrards Horse & House MS Pace at Gloucester Park, Perth, on Friday, September 20, her fourth win on end since resuming on August 27.

Amaretto Bromac, who left Tuesday's Menangle winner Phil Bromac (1:54.8), and Arma Courage (1:58.9, three wins), are daughters of former NZ 2YO record holder Arma Class (Talk About Class-Ar Miss), the latter being the 1971 NZ Sapling Stakes and 1972 NZ Oaks winer.

Arma Class was a half-sister to champion mare Armalight (1:55.4, 18 wins form 36 starts & $277,520), while their dm Ar Miss is also the ancestress of this season's superstar pacers, None Bettor (1:48.8, USA), $1 million NSW Miracle Mile winner Spankem (1:47.7) and Muscle Factory, (p3, 1:49.6), formerly the Australian 3YO mile record-holder last term.

Purchased out of the Woodend Beach stables of David and Catherine Butt in February, Arma Indie missed the autumn WA feature 3YO filly racing.

Previously, Arma Indie showed smart two-year-old promise last term for the Butts’, before heading north to race for the Robert Dunn stable.

The Well Said filly placed in three of eight juvenile starts last term, including her highlight effort when second to Princess Tiffany in the Gr. 1 $150,000 Harness Jewels 2YO Fillies Diamond at Cambridge on June 2, being race-timed in 1:55.2 (1609m).

She was backed as virtually unbeatable for the Mike Reed stable this week, starting a $1.45 favourite and leading throughout for driver Mark Reed.

Arma Indie drew clear by 3.2 metres in 3:08.6 for the mobile 2536m staying trip, a mile rate of 1:59.7.

She quickened over her last 800m in 56.3s and her last 300m in 28.1s.

Her quickest Gloucester Park run was first-up, over the same trip, on August 27, when she rated 1:57.5 as a $1.50 favourIte.

She's raced only 16 times for six wins and four placings for $80,065.
