Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 25 March 2019
Rhianna Reigns became the first winner for young Bromac Lodge mare Cha Cha Bromac (Art Major-Classic Blue Jeans), at Wagga, NSW, last Friday, March 22.

The three-year-old filly by top sire Bettor's Delight rated a smart 1:56.7 for the mobile 1740m.

She was having just her third Australian start for trainer Rodney Woodhouse, after earlier placing in two of three NZ starts late last year for Clevedon trainer Barry Purdon.

Rhianna Reigns, driven by Roger Strong, drew the inside of the second row in a C0 fillies and mares pace, but was able to find a one-one sit over the last lap.

She finished best to run down the pace-making favourite Nelly Albertina, by a head.

Rhianna Reigns is the second foal and the first to race from Cha Cha Bromac, an unraced half-sister to Attorney General (1:48.4, US, 20 wins & $434,952).

Her first foal, Can Can Bromac (by Falcon Seelster), has entered a breeding programme, being bred last season with Captraintreacherous.

Her third foal Carlos Bromac (by Bettor's Delight), sold for $33,000 at the last year's NZ Premier Yearling Sale.

Cha Cha Bromac's dam Classic Blue Jeans is also the dam of other good winners, Cullen Bromac (1:55.1, 20 wins), Crown Counsel (TT, 1:58.1, one), Crown Bromac (1:54.1, 15 wins), Captain Bromac (1:57.8, 15 wins), Chay Bromac (1:59.2, three wins), Chiquita Bromac (1:58.7, five wins), Mink Stride (five wins), Cindy Bromac (1:56.6, four wins) and (Our) Charley Bromac (one win).

Crown Defender, the unraced Life Sign daughter of Classic Blue Jeans, has gained notoriety as the dam of Grand Circuit performer, Cruz Bromac (1:50.1, 20 wins & $544,415), and other smart winners, Carter Bromac (p3, 1:52.4, 11 wins from 27 starts), Churchill Bromac (1:57.3, 13 wins) and Coltrane Bromac (1:57.5, eight wins).

Crown Defender is also the dam of the unraced Cozette Bromac (by McArdle), dam of race-placed Champagne Bromac and promising two-year-old Cassius Bromac, race-timed in 1:54.9 when third on debut in the Group Three NZ Kindergarten Stakes at Wyndham on March 16.

Another good producer from Classic Blue Jeans is Crown Counsel (by Western Hanover), who has left the winners of 67 races, most notably (Our) Cullens Crown (1:52, US; 46 wins & $490,044); Attorney Stride (1:57.5, 13 wins & $80,258); Falcon Crown (five wins & $44,876) and last season's debut Australian 2YO winner Desirable Stride (1:58.6, mile rate, 1650m).
