New Zealand Cup winner Cruz Bromac resumed from a brief let-up with a win at the Rangiora trials on Wednesday, January 29.
Rolleston trainers, Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen, couldn't find anything amiss with the Falcon Seelster-Crown Defender gelding after his fifth in the Trillian Trust Auckland Cup on December 31.
He shaded stablemates, Another Masterpiece and Amazing Dream, in the mobile 2000m trial, in the hands of stable foreman, Hayden Cullen, pacing the 2000m in 2:31.4, the last 800m in 56.9s.
They plan to race him in the $30,000 Summer Cup at Addington on February 14, then return him to Australia for upcoming features.
His main target will be the $1 million Ainsworth Miracle Mile to be run at Tabcorp Park, Menangle, New South Wales, on March 7.
Cruz Bromac's consistency in Grand Circuit racing through November-December has given him a good lead in this season's Australasian Grand Circuit series.
He's accumulated 170 points, well ahead of stablemate Thefixer on 110.
Next of the chasing pack are the quartet of Victoria Cup winner Bling It On, WA Cup winner Mighty Conqueror, Auckland Cup winner Self Assured and Inter Dominion champ, Ultimate Sniper.
