CRUZ BROMAC SUFFERS SEASON ENDING INJURY

Cruz Bromac has suffered a season ending leg injury and plans to contest the features in Sydney have been abandoned.
“It’s a joint injury so it will take a few months to some right. He will go home to Australia where co-owner, Peter O’Shea has a suitable property for the rest and treatment” Mark said.
While the injury makes a return to racing a question mark at this stage of his career, Cruz Bromac staged a remarkable recovery from injury last summer, a recovery that led him to win the $750,000 NZ Cup for All Stars in November for majority owner, Danny Zavitsanos.
Cruz Bromac, winner of the NZ FFA the previous year and unbeaten heat winner at the subsequent Inter Dominions, looked a forlorn hope to make the NZ Cup meeting this year after going amiss this time last year following the Canadian Club Sprint (G1) when he finished third.
Dean Braun supervised his late starting spring preparation. He won a handicap race first up at Kilmore at the end of September and then caught the eye running a big race for third in the Victoria Cup. He was unplaced in the Flying Stakes when returned to All Stars before a strong second in the Kaikoura Cup and then capitalising on a dream run given him by Blair Orange to upset the favourites in the NZ Cup. Only a few weeks before the Inter Dominion was considered his most realistic aim.
Taken north for that series he won one heat and ran second in two others- once to Ballarat Cup winner, AG’s White Socks and once the Grand final winner, Ultimate Sniper.
Cruz Bromac has won 23 of 52 starts and is the latest of All Stars Stables $1m earners with his Inter Dominion efforts.
He did not race at two and had only three starts (two wins) at three but after a handful of starts at four he ran second to Have Faith In Me in the Paleface Adios leading up to the Chariots of Fire in which he finished 6th.
He won the Casey Classic at five before another long break from racing.
At his fifth start back from a 12 month absence, which included a win in the Warragul Cup he won the Len Smith Mile in 1:50.1 beating Miracle Mile winner My Field Marshal.
