HEZA BROMAC BACK IN FORM FOR HAPPY DREAMER FAMILY

Published by Jeff Scott in News · 9 November 2019

Former fast 3YO Heza Bomac had his first win for 12 months from a new stable at Bathurst, New South Wales, on Friday, November 8.

The former 1:51.4 miler and $74,000-plus winner slipped under the punters guard, paying $12 as he overcame a back row three draw, for the Amanda Turnbull stable, in a PJ Hall Memorial Heat.

Driven by Steve Turnbull, Heza Bromac proved too good for fellow NZ-bred Our American Princess (American Ideal-Panforte), winning by 2.8 metres in a 1:57.7 rate for the 2260m.

Co-owned by major Victorian owner, Danny Zavitsanos, Heza Bromac (7g Rob Roy Mattgregor-Halo Bromac, by Falcon Seelster-Happy Dreamer, by Son Of Afella-Dreamy Atom), again highlights the good run of descendants from the latter in recent weeks.

Close relative, 1:50 USA miler Tisadream (6g Bettor's Delight-Dreamy Atom), a former good WA winner, has scored back-to-back USA wins in the last week, winning at Plainridge Park, Maine, on Friday (NZ time) in 1:52.1 (fifth).

Tisadream has won six of 22 US starts for the year, for over ,000, while the family has in-form 3YO Allstars pacing filly Amazing Dream (Bettor's Delight-Christian Dreamer, by Christian Cullen-Dreamy Atom), trying for her sixth win in 12 starts in the up to rating 80 Pascoes The Jewellers Mobile Pace at Addington on NZ Cup day.

She's been classy winning $223,092 already, including last season's Listed $146,240 PGG Wrightson NZ Yearling Sales 2YO Fillies Final in a 1:54.9 rate (1980m) at Addington, and finishing third to Sweet On Me and Spellbound in the Group One $150,000 Harness Jewels 2YO Diamond at Addington.

Heza Bromac hasn't quite fulfilled his initial promise after being a former one-time Harness Jewels 3YO contender.

He was rated exceptional after winning at three in 1:52.5 and 1:52.at Menangle at his fifth and sixth starts for the Kevin Pizzuto stable in April, 2016.

However, subsequently sidelined with a setback, he was transferred to the Amanda Turnbull team after failing to win in his first five starts at four, winning at Griffin, then battling for the rest of that term.

He hit form again early at five, pacing 1:51.4 to win at Menangle in October of his 5YO racing, but again struggled to win after winning last November's PJ Hall Memorial at Penrith.

Heza Bromac then had a four-race winter stint in Victoria with Dean Braun, his best effort being a third at Melton on July 20, then was returned to NSW his term.

After a ninth first-up back with Pizzuto stable at Menangle on October 12, Heza Bromac switched again to the Amanda Turnbull team to target another Hall Memorial.

Heza Bromac's grand-dam Happy Dreamer, was sold last year to Derek Newton, of Tancred Holdings, along with her now 2YO filly daughter, Dulcinea (by He’s Watching).

Happy Dreamer, now 21, was served by Triple NZ Cup winner, Terror To Love (1:51) last December.
