MAJOR BOB GOLD CROWN FAVOURITE

Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 25 March 2019
Major Bob, an Art Major gelding named after the late Bromac Lodge proprietor Bob McArdle, has catapulted himself into Bathurst Gold Crown favouritism.

Trained by Shane and Lauren Tritton, Major Bob tangled soon after the start in last Saturday's heat, losing 30m.

However, the $1.25 favourite made a spectacular recovery, coming three back on the outer at the 400m to stage a winning run wide.

Major Bob swept past the leaders to win going away by 3.6 metres in a 1:58 mile rate for the 1730m.

He's unbeaten in two race starts for the Tritton stable, having earlier won his Penrith debut over 1720m in a 1:59.6 rate.

The $100,000 Crown 2YO colt s and geldings Final is to be run at Bathurst on Friday night, however Major Bob has been placed out of the draw by stewards after last Saturday’s early indiscretion.

Major Bob is raced by for breeder-owners, Dacar Newcastle Pty Ltd, which includes good friends of the late Mr McArdle in David and Kym Carpenter.

He is from a Bettor's Delight mare in Mother Kym (four wins from 51 starts), a daughter of NZ-bred mare Straight Left (Fake Left-It's My Party, by In The Pocket-Vic's Guest).
