Published by in News · 5 May 2018

Former NZ record-holder Pascale Bromac (Holmes Hanover-Desiblue) left her second winner when Proud Bromac delivered as a hot $1.90 favourite at Manawatu on Tuesday, May 1.

Racing for the Michael House stable, and driven by NZ's leading driver for the season, Blair Orange, Proud Bromac wasn't hurried early, settling three back on the outer but stormed late to win going away by 1 and 1/4 lengths.

Proud Bromac, raced by Bromac Lodge with Jamie Gameson, rated 2:01.9 for the mobile 2000m.

He had placed four times previously (including three seconds) before breaking through for his maiden win at his 13th start.

Dam Pascale Bromac earlier left strong winner Pepe Bromac (1:54.3), the winner of 11 of 46 starts for $101,933, and Parfait Bromac, who qualified and only raced twice, but has quickly made her mark at stud.

Parfait Bromac (Artsplace-Pascale Bromac) is the dam of smart Victorian winner, Rocknroll Hanover gelding Pow Wow Bromac (1:55.9, six wins & $34,401) and the lightly-raced 3YO Mach Three filly winner Tall Poppy (1:58.1), who has a win and two thirds from seven starts for the Steve Dolan stable.

Bromac Lodge is offering a weanling colt by the USA speedster He's Watching p2, 1:50; p3, 1:46.8 and $1.1 million) from Parfait Bromac, for $7000 (excluding GST).

Pascale Bromac (1:57.1, 6 wins and $96,193) was a tough filly for the Paul Kerr stable, winning a Gr. 2 Nevele R Stakes at Addington, a heat of the NZ Sires Stakes 2YO Fillies series, ran second in the Gr. 1 Northern Oaks, ran third in a NZ 2YO Sires Stakes Fillies Championship, and was also third against the boys in the Gr. 2 NZ Welcome Stakes as a two-year-old, and ran third in the Gr. 2 Queen Of Hearts for mares at Auckland.

Pascale Bromac's dam Desiblue was an unraced half-sister to Zedechias (8 NZ wins, 1:54.2, US), and is from the same family as former top 1990s 4YO Pacer of the Year Abdias (1:55, 30 wins, former NZ mile record holder), NZ 2200m record holder Dalton Bromac (1:52, CAN, 12 wins & $32,803), and champion 1980s mare Delightful Lady (1:58.7, 47 wins & $476,250).

This is the family of NZ 2200m record holder DALTON BROMAC (1:52, Can, 12 wins and $132,803), and former champion mare and 1981 NZ Harness Horse of the Year, DELIGHTFUL LADY (1:58.7, 47 wins and $476,250).
