PINK FLAMINGO RUN ADDS TO CONGO BREEZE FAMILY

Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 4 November 2019

Former Bromac Lodge broodmare Congo Breeze (1:52.8, US, 6 NZ wins & $37,565), became the grand-dam of smart Kaikoura winner Pink Flamingo Run on Sunday, November 3,

She's the first winner from Chanelle Bromac (by Mach Three), who won seven and $49,533 when raced by former Bromac Lodge employee, Chanelle Dickie, and her mother, Helen, from the Cran Dalgety stable.

The Dickies' co-bred and race Pink Flamingo Run with Chrissie Dalgety, wife of the West Melton trainer.

Pink Flamingo Run, by Art Major, was given a good trip three back on the markers from the inside of the second row by top driver, Blair Orange, worked out into the running line before the home turn, and sprinted best to wear down race-winners, Friend, Beau Vista and That's Bettor, in a rating 40-49 pace.

She was having only her third race start, having finished a solid fourth first-up at Addington on October 10, then had her chances affected by a flat tyre second-up at Oamaru last week.

Her grand-dam Congo Breeze, who also left another useful filly in Cougar Bromac (p, 1:57.4, nine wins & $57,346), was sold last July in foal to boom young US sire, Sweet Lou (1:47).

Congo Breeze had her last foal for Bromac Lodge two years ago called Check Her Out, a filly by the fast American racehorse, He's Watching (1:(1:46.8 & $1.1 million).

Congo Breeze is also the dam of non-winner Crystal Bromac, now the American Ideal dam of this season's 3YO filly winner, Emmersyn Lee.

By Holmes Hanover, Congo Breeze is a half-sister to eight other winners, including Congo Flame (1:54.8, US, 31 wins & $171,558), Shamrock Sheila (p3, 1:55.8, 8 wins & $73,763) and Congo Direct (1:58.3, Aust, 2 wins).

This is the family of  Borowan (2:00, 15 Aust wins), dam of Line Of Fire (p3, 1:52, 1:50.6, US, 16 wins & $240,077), Here's Rommel (1:54.5, 20 wins), Simply Susational (1:52.2, US, 25 wins & $283, 045,), Bettor To Be Bad (1:54.4, 11 wins & $103,854) and Provocative Prince  (1:52.6, USA, 11 wins, $100,000-plus earner).

Chanelle Bromac's half-sister Cougar Bromac (by Art Major) was sold to Alabar (NZ) Ltd last October in foal to world record holder Always B MIki (1:46).
