Published by in News ·

The fifth win of Romeo Bromac (5g Rob Roy Mattgregor-Romancing Bromac) in Victoria at Ballarat on Thursday, May 3, was timely for Australian buyer Kerrie Hymers, who recently purchased his dam.

Romeo Bromac (1:56.8) has been a useful first foal to race from Romancing Bromac, a lightly-raced daughter of Falcon Seelster and USA-winning mare Romancing Ashley (p3, 1:54.2), by Life Sign from another USA mare Hugmeifyouloveme (p3, 1:54.6).

Romancing Bromac, served last November by Rocknroll Hanover, is a half-sister to Ideal Romance (1:59.4), a winner of five from 24 in Australia; along with good Canterbury Bettor's Delight winner Roxy Bromac (seven wins & $54,616) and Guilty Pleasure (1:59.8, two Aust. wins).

Romancing Bromac's dam Romancing Ashley a two-win USA daughter of Life Sign, is a half-sister to five other 2:00 USA performers including Paintbrush (p3, 1:50.6, 17 wins & $245,958).

Her dam Hugmeifyouloveme (by No Nukes) also won twice at three and is a half-sister to seven in 2:00 including Highly Valued (1:52.6, 30 wins & $240,349) and Future Treasure (1:53h, 28 wins & $507,177).

Romancing Ashley's fourth dam Angel Hair (by Bret Hanover) left the 1984 top USA filly Naughty But Nice (p3, 1:54f, 18 wins & $1 million), while another daughter Liberated Angel (p3, 1:55.8) became the Meadow Skipper dam of five in 1:53 including Leah Almahurst (p3, 1:52.6, 28 wins & $1 million earner).

Leah Almahurst herself is the dam of Western Ideal (1:48), the 2000 US Aged Pacing Horse of the Year and sire of American Ideal, the 1:47.8 sire of He's Watching, the 2014 Meadowlands Pace winner, now at stud in NZ.
