TANDIAS BROMAC LEAVES $95,000 YEARLING

The Falcon, a colt from a family associated with Bromac Lodge in recent generations, sold for a healthy $95,000 at NZ Bloodstock's Standardbred Yearling Sale in Christchurch on February 20, 2019.

By champion sire Bettor's Delight, he is the second foal from smart racemare, Tandias Bromac (Art Major-Tandias Courage), offered by Southland breeders Taffy Ltd.

The Falcon was purchased by North Canterbury Bob Sandford, who earlier co-raced champion filly Venus Serena, and former NZ Sires Stakes and Northern Derby winner Tiger Tara, a subsequent Inter Dominion champ last December for the Kevin Pizzuto stable.

Tandias Bromac (1:53.7, 14 wins & $193,951), formerly Harness Jewels-placed at two for the Ken Barron stable, became a regular winner in Victoria for the Dean Braun team.

She was sold at the end of her race career to join the growing broodmare band owned by Taffy Ltd.

The Falcon is the second foal from Tandias Bromac, who has a two-year-old brother on the ground, and had a filly sister to The Falcon last year.

Tandias Bromac is a half-sister to other Harness Jewels-placed and $100,000-plus earning fillies, Tatijana Bromac (p3, 1:54.2, 8 wins & $215,578) and Te Amo Bromac (1:55.8, 7 wins & $147,252).

Tatijana Bromac's first foal is Mohs Em Down (1:58.1, two wins from six starts), while NZ Oaks-placed Te Amo Bromac's first foal Tara Bromac has placed twice from six starts.

Grand-dam Tandias Courage (1:53.6 US, 23 wins), is the dam of five individual winners while other fillies from her are also breeding on.

Tallulah Bromac, a lightly-raced daughter of Tandias Courage is the dam of last season's NZ 3YO record setter, Tennyson Bromac (1:55.7, mile rate, 2000m, six NZ wins) and Victorian winner Turbo Bromac (1:59.4, six wins).

Tania Tandias, an unraced Falcon Seelster mare from Tandias Courage, has also made her mark, leaving exciting Queensland pacer, Lincoln Road (1:54.5; 11 wins & $64,848), Zanibar Babe (p3, 1:56.9; two Aust. wins) and Lincoln's Girl (p2, 1:56.7; two wins).

Phil and Glenys Kennard, who co-raced former champion pacer Lazarus and also race last Saturday's $1 million Miracle Mile winner Spankem (1:47.7), purchased another from the Spankem family last month in First Class.

The Kennards' outlaid $50,000 for First Class, a colt by Bettor's Delight from Bromac Lodge mare, Amaretto Bromac, who like Spankem, also desends from the Ar Miss family.
