TENNYSON LOWERS BEST MILE MARK

Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 28 July 2019

Tennyson Bromac, a NZ three-year-old record holder from last term, lowered his career best mile rate to 1:53.8 over the 1660m at Albion Park, Brisbane, on Saturday, July 27.

The Bromac Lodge-bred son of Bettor's Delight and Tallulah Bromac (Artsplace-Tandias Courage) was exported to Queensland late last year after firstly racing for the Allstars Stables in Canterbury, then briefly for northern trainer, Brent Mangos.

Now racing for Queensland owners, Solid Earth Pty Ltd, and trainer Grant Dixon, Tennyson Bromac was winning for the fifth time this year at Albion Park in 16 starts, banking 37,782 in Australia.

He played the iron horse in the open and was too strong for another ex-Kiwi in Weedons Express, who led early, then trailed.

Tennyson Bromac has now won nine of 30 lifetime starts for $74,837.

His star run in Canterbury was the NZ record at Rangiora for the mobile 2000m last April, winning for driver Tim Williams in 2:23.9, a 1:55.7 mile rate.

A few months earlier, he also did well from an outside second row draw in the NRM Sires Stakes 3YO Final at Addington, running on for sixth to stablemate, Chase Auckland, who won in a 1:52.2 rate for the 1950m.

His dam, Tallulah Bromac, who was retired after two unplaced starts, was sold last July during the Bromac Lodge winter dispersal sale.

She is also the dam of $31,380 winner Turbo Bromac (seven wins from 29 starts), who lowered his best mile rate to 1:58.2 over 2270m when winning at Wagga, New South Wales, in May.

Grand-dam Tandias Courage, who died this season, was the 2000 Australian 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year, winning 23 races (10 Aust, 13 USA) pacing 1:53.6 in North America.

Tandias Courage is the dam of dam of three $100,000-plus winners, all Harness Jewels-placed, namely Tatijana Bromac (p3, 1:54.2 & $215,578), Tandias Bromac (1:53.7, 14 wins & $193,951) and NZ Oaks third placegetter, Te Amo Bromac (1:55.8, seven wins & $147,252).

DYNAMIC BROMAC WINS AGAIN

In-form Victorian Dynamic Bromac (6g Live Or Die-Diana Bromac) notched his second win on end at Melton on Saturday night for owners, Diane Reilly and Russell Keller.

The David Aiken-trained pacer worked wide early to the front for driver, Kima Frenning, leading over the last lap to win in a 1:54.4 rate for the 1720m in the $20,000 Allied Express Pace.

Dynamic Bromac had won a week earlier at Bendigo in a career best 1:53.9 mile rate for the 1650m.

His latest victory takes the career record of Dynamic Bromac to 13 wins from 71 starts for nearly $123,000 in stakes.
