Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 1 March 2019

Titan Bromac became the fifth individual winner for former Bromac Lodge broodmare Tandias Courage with his maiden win at Geelong on Victoria on Tuesday, February 26.

A three-year-old colt by Art Major, Titan Bromac played the iron horse in the open for driver Kima Frenning in the Golden Plains Equine 3YO Pace.

The $1.70 favourite was too tough, winning by 10.2 metres in a 1:59.1 rate for the 2100m.

He's raced by long-time Bromac Lodge supporter, Gold Coast owner Dianne Reilly, and trained by David Aiken.

Sadly, Tandias Courage, was humanely destroyed last year at age 21 after developing problems for owners, Grant Enterprises Ltd.

She had been a top producer for Bromac Lodge, leaving the $100,000-plus winning Harness Jewels-placed fillies, Tatijana Bromac (p3, 1:54.2, 8 wins & $215,578), Tandias Bromac (1:53.7, 14 wins & $193,951) and Te Amo Bromac (1:55.8, seven wins & $147,252).

Tatijana Bromac, four times second in Group One races during her career for the Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen stable, is now the dam of Mohs Em Down, winner of his last two at Alexandra Park for the Barry Purdon team.

Tandias Courage had grown in stature as the grand-dam of impressive winners.

She also left Tallulah Bromac, the lightly-raced dam of last season's NZ 3YO record setter, Tennyson Bromac (1:55.7 mile rate, 2000m, six NZ wins) and Victorian winner Turbo Bromac (1:59.4, 6 wins).

Tania Tandias, an unraced Falcon Seelster mare from Tandias Courage, has also made her mark, leaving exciting Queensland pacer, Lincoln Road (1:54.5; 11 wins & $64,848), Zanibar Babe (p3, 1:56.9; two Aust. wins) and Lincoln's Girl (p2, 1:56.7; two wins).

Tandias Courage (1:53.6, US), by Stoneridge Scooter, was a former racetrack star, being the 2000 Australian 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year and winning 23 races (10 Aust, 13 USA).

Her sister Mother Courage was 1999 Australian 3YO Filly of the Year and co-2002 Australian Aged Pacing Mare of the Year, winning 30 races & $462,520.

Tandias Courage and Mother Courage belong to the same family as 2015 Inter Dominion champ Lennytheshark (1:49.2, 39 wins & $2.99 million).
