Former champion two and three-year-old Courage Under Fire, who has semen available through Bromac Lodge next term, was again represented by star mare Carlas Pixel at Albion Park, Brisbane, on Saturday, July 14.
The six-time Derby winner, who was unbeaten in his first 24 starts, died last year, aged 21.
Carlas Pixel, a 4YO daughter of Courage Under Fire and Pixel Perfect (by Art Major) dashed away from the third line with the Listed $25,540 Egmont Park Stud 2018 Fleur De Lil Ladyship Stakes in a 1:53.5 mile rate for the 1660m.
The former big-winning filly lowered her lifetime mile best to 1:49.5, set in the Gr.1 Ladyship Mile at Menangle in February. She has raced 46 times for 16 wins and 15 placings, for $343,483 in stakes.
Carlas Pixel, trained in Victoria by Dean Braun, was one of five winners on the Albion Park programme for top driver, Luke McCarthy.
The Courage Under Fire influence was also felt in NZ over the weekend with his 4YO son Bringitonhome (from Bubba Ho Tep) also unwinding strongly late to win the rating 50-70 Coca Cola Amatil Mobile Pace at Addington.
Bringitonhome, trained by Cran Dalgety and driven by Dexter Dunn, won in a 1:57.5 rate for the 1980m to bring up his third win from 10 starts.
Courage Under Fire also featured as a broodmare sire at Alexandra Park on Friday night when Three Ply (3f Courage Under Fire-Courage Aplenty) led throughout to win the up to rating 48 Franklin Park Yearling Parade Sat 28 July Mobile Pace.
Three Ply, trained by Steve Telfer, rated 2:02.9 for the 2200m.She was the third winner on the Auckland programme for top Hamilton driver, David Butcher.
