Published by in News · 11 August 2019

Courage Under Fire gelding Ferdinand paced 1:52.3 to win his ninth from 61 career starts at Menangle last Saturday night. He’s out of Live Or Die mare To Die With Dignity who was a consistent performer around Harold Park and Bankstown in the mid-2000’s, winning six races for Janice Pengilly, who also races Ferdinand.

Ferdinand is a real throwback to the Bromac Lodge and Nevele R Stud breeds. His second dam is She’s A Natural, a Falcon Seelster mare tracing to the third dam Talk About Natural, by Talk About Class.

And Du Vella made it two on the card at Menangle for Courage Under Fire, the full-sister to former top-class race mare (Glenferrie) Alexis registered her 15th career victory from 105 starts for the Paul Fitzpatrick stable in rating 1:54.9.

Du Vella was purchased out of Christchurch weanling sale by Neale Donnelly and syndicated to race out of the Fitzpatrick barn after completing a short stint with All Stars in Christchurch.

She has now banked $196,411 and taken a best mark of 1:50.9. A broodmare gem she could be.

Shelby Bromac extended a strong season’s record in nearly winning again at Melton on Saturday night, the Bromac Lodge-bred gelding running second in a slashing 1:53.1 mile rate over 1720m.

The Bettor’s Delight son of Artiscape mare Fresco Denario has relished his time in Victoria this season, a record of 17 starts this term for six wins and four placings and in excess of ,000 in stakes.

He won at Oamaru for former trainer-driver Allan Beck on December 1, 2018 before heading to leading horseman David Aitken and has not looked back.

A two-race mission to Hobart saw him take out the $75,000 Tasmanian Pacing Cup on March 16 before a let-up, and he has placed in three of five starts back on a new campaign.

Ironically, Shelby Bromac was beaten at Melton by another former Allan Beck-trained runner Shortys Mate, a son of former Cup class mare Shortys Girl.

Tommy Under Fire (Courage Under Fire) wins his second in a row 1:54.5 mile rate 1660m Albion Park, Friday August 9, now registering 6 starts 2 wins 2 placing for new trainer-driver Taleah McMullen.

Bromac Lodge-bred Tennyson Bromac (Bettor’s Delight – Tallulah Bromac) was beaten a half-head at Albion Park by another former Kiwi pacer Vasari.

After winning four races for All Stars, Tennyson Bromac has won six from 15 for Grant Dixon In Queensland and 10 from 32 overall with another 13 placings.

Courage Under Fire mare Girls Got Courage registered her second win at Wagga last Friday as a $1.80 favourite, while Courageous Dancer (Courage Under Fire – Ozonick Dancer) took his second career win at Newcastle on Saturday night for Mark Callaghan.

Thebattlesjusbegun keeps winning, the Courage Under Fire gelding from Bel Bromac (by Badlands Hanover) registered win eight from start 30 at Globe Derby on Saturday night.

He met with good success for the Shane Tritton stable before making his way across to the border to South Australia.
