FIFTH EDITION ADDS TO FAMILY OF AGNES PATRON

Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 31 July 2018
Former NZ pacer Fifth Edition continues to add in Australia to the family of former Bromac Lodge broodmare, Agnes Patron.

Fifth Edition, who brought up his 17th win in 83 lifetime starts for ,738 at Redcliffe, Queensland, on July 25, is from Angela Patron (Holmes Hanover-Anna Patron), a sister to Agnes Patron.

The latter has made her mark with her first four to race when formerly with Bromac Lodge.

Agnes Patron's four individual winners are $300,000 earner Aztec Bromac (1:52.3), Avalon Bromac (1:56.1, winner of $92,028), Angus Bromac (1:53.4, winner of $73,618) and Ace Ace Bromac (p3, 1:56.9, winner of $35,466).

Fifth Edition is just another strong performer for the family.

He initially won 13 of 50 New Zealand starts for the Cran Dalgety stable for $105,321, won twice in West Australia, and has added two Queensland wins to his record this year.

Fifth Edition, trained in Queensland by Ron Sallis, lowered his career best mile rate to 1:53.9 mile rate (over 1660m) at Albion Park in a conditioned pace on April 17.

In his latest win at Redcliffe, he moved up parked over the final lap and was tenacious, holding by a neck in a 2:00.6 rate for the 2040m.

Albert Patron (1:53, US), a brother to Agnes Patron and Angela Patron, won 14 races for $170,027, while half-brothers were also useful, namely Andrew Patron (1:53.8, US, 25 wins & $101,059) and Soky's Patron (1:54.8, US, 15 wins & $79,900).

Anna Patron (1:55, US, 34 wins & $120,711), the dam of Agnes Patron and Angela Patron, was a hardy mare, who kept racking up the wins in North America.

She is a half-sister to the 2001 New Zealand Oaks winner Shania Patron (1:56.4, seven wins & $178,330) and another smart south winner in No Return (1:58.1, nine wins & $145,030).

Last year Agnes Patron foaled a filly to Roll With Joe, the brother to Bettor's Delight and sire of brilliant Australian three-year-old Ignatius.

She is due to foal this year to the young Bettor's Delight stallion, Betting Line (p3, 1:47.2f).
