Bromac Lodge
Published by Jeff Scott in News · 18 August 2018
Simba Bromac became the latest $100,000 earner for former Bromac Lodge broodmare, Sabrina Bromac, in style at Gloucester Park, Perth, on Friday, August 17.

The 4YO Art Official gelding continued his hot West Australian form, leading throughout from the ace and drawing clear by 6.5 metres in a 1:55.2 rate for the 2130m.

He has a fast mile rate record at Gloucester Park of 1:52.8 (1730m), set last month.

Simba Bromac was a prohibitive $1.04 favourite in West Australia and returned money-back only on the NZ TAB, taking his record to 17 wins from 29 starts.

He stood out from the gun draw in a heat of the Sky Racing The Schrader Qualifying Series.

Simba Bromac suffered a surprise defeat at his previous start when second in the John Higgins Memorial Final at Gloucester Park on July 27, but he has the smart winning strike rate of 16 wins from 23 WA starts at four.

He becomes the sixth individual six-figure winner for his dam Sabrina Bromac, joining Slick Bromac (1:57.3, 33 wins & $256,107), Smudge Bromac (1:53.2, 36 wins & $460,958), Seshny Bromac (1:53.9, 12 wins & $124,554), Ardle McArdle (1:53.3, 28 wins & $280,014), Shakti Bromac (1:55.1, 14 wins & $118,457).

The unraced Sabrina Bromac (Live Or Die-Soho), sold to New South Wales buyer Jake Stockton and exported at the end of May, has the enviable record of her first nine foal to race, all winning.

Other winners for the 18-year-old broodmare are: Tuscan Breeze (1:56, 12 wins & $88,311), Spike Bromac (1:54.7, 9 wins & $71,584), and minor NZ winner Sherlock Bromac (one win, $3738).

Sabrina Bromac's first nine foals have collectively won 162 races and just over $1.5 million in stakes.

Her 10th to race, Shamrock Bromac, placed twice in five 2YO starts last term for the Geoff Dunn stable.

Sabrina Bromac is also the dam of Skye Bromac, a 4YO daughter of Shadow Play, who Bromac Lodge have retained a co-share.

Sabrina Bromac belongs to the family of top Australasian filly/mare (A) Piccadilly Princess (1:50.4, 17 wins from 51 starts & $733,842), Saveapatrol (11 wins from 18 pacing starts for $145,618, 3rd Auckland Cup), Rondel Franco (1:51.6 US, 35 wins & $684,003), Ok Royal (1:53.6, NZ Messenger), Sovereign (six wins incl. 1979 NZ Derby).

Her third dam is the former top 1970s NZ racemare, Royal Belmer, who won 12 for the late Weedons trainer Jack Smolenski including the 1973 NZ Standardbred Breeders Stakes.
